Cracking the Maya Code: The story behind the centuries-long decipherment of ancient Maya hieroglyphs Part 2

The ancient Maya civilization of Central America left behind an intricate and mysterious hieroglyphic script, carved on monuments, painted on pottery, and drawn in handmade bark-paper books. For centuries, scholars considered it too complex ever to understand—until recently, when an ingenious series of breakthroughs finally cracked the code and unleashed a torrent of new insights into the Mayas' turbulent past. For the first time, NOVA presents the epic inside story of how the decoding was done—traveling to the remote jungles of southern Mexico and Central America to investigate how the code was broken and what Maya writings now reveal.

  • @rxvc Sad and so true as you say friend, but what little we know about Prehispanic Mexico is what was taken by Europeans to their Museum collections. I have thoroughly researched bout the issue and Mexican politicians, and their relatives, who are the worst human beings on earth (After Saddam lol), have stolen all of Mexicos National Treasures, for centuries. Like the beast sister of beast Lopez Portillo, who kept IN ONE OF HER CASTLES (IN EUROPE) Juana Ines De la Cruz's Medallion.

  • @flit250 Because Catholic-Ultra-Ignorant-Pedophile-Pigs destroy and demonize anything that is not either money (Dollar or Euro) or children anuses. Germans, British and French explorers were most ethnocentric (Indeed) but their intellect was free of the Catholic-Children-Anus-Money culture that, still today, guides their every action and thought process. In other words, if it cannot be "Analized", its destroyed. They saved it from the Spaniards (Who still had Inquisition in 1835)

  • @packandconpuse Probably because "Maya" is a popular female name in a bunch of other cultures? My girlfriend and I are laughing cause she also noticed lol. She was about to incriminate me lol

  • @rxvc - it looks better when someone else reveals the truth, thanks for your response, i apologize for mines being late...

  • Why the fuck do the Germans have Mayan property???

  • my.. you mean to tell me they mayans and the hebrew have basically the same time frame for the beginning of the universe?? now that is amazing..

  • @OTTEN2007 because it happens in every culture - they are national treasures that other countries have either bought of stolen - it is a shame - that the true owners of these objects can't get them back
