Goal D time attack in Arcade mode of Japanese PS2 version of Outrun2SP. Played with a Driving Force Pro.

An okay run. Ice Scape was pretty sloppy, and I messed up the angle in Milky Way and couldn't safely try for the shortcut.

This is more intended to be a demonstration of the Japanese version's fixed Turbo Outrun music (no fade-out), and reimplemented end animations (the shuttle launch in this case).

  • Nice driving. You used the same music and car as Turbo Outrun. The only thing missing is the turbo function. Btw, how's the intro of the JPN version? Does it employ the same crappy FMV as the US one?

  • Nope, it's pretty much just an animated title screen.

  • You should be the spokesman for Driving Force Pro - cos I'm gonna go buy one!

I've been watching a lot of OR 2006 videos here and wondering how you gain such stable control over the car, I've been faffing about with the Sony pad for 2 days now :/

  • Keep in mind, the US and EU releases don't work with the DFP. You'll need the Japanese release for that. Totally worth it, though. :)

  • The most significant differences:

-Driving Force Pro support in lieu of online/multiplayer, which has been removed.

-Fixed Turbo Outrun songs, and 4 new songs.

    -Ending animations

There are also minor graphical tweaks here and there, and some inconsistencies in the interface seem to have been fixed.

  • I wish i saw that before trying to hunt down a copy.

Although your DFP wold work with the PC version off steam. Which is what i think i'm going to do.

Also FUCK YEAH! KEEP YOUR HEART!

  • Depends, the Xbox version still has more shading effects than the Ps2 version. and higher res textures.

Overall though they all pretty much play the same, so whatever :D

  • Ah, that's a shame. I'll look into it though, I pretty much have my heart set on it.

  • Yeah, I've been reading about the differences between US and JPN versions. In fact, I heard it's even more superior than the Xbox port. Impressive considering the xbox version is based on the same hardware as the arcade (chihiro).

  • great vid - lets me see how great this game is. PS2 does well here. Is the Xbox version better ?

  • so slow
