This video should help to make and understand the folds in the origami "magic ball", diagram:

To make this origami magic ball you should use 20x40cm (instead of the 9x9 cm memo paper shown) and fold it in 20 x 40 squares (instead of the 8x8 squares shown). Note that the diagram shows only 9 horizontal mountain folds, it is however easier to make it 19 (20 rows) as this facilitates some of the diagonal folds. To create the ball it must be taped or glued. It is should also be possible to make it using 16 x 32 squares in which case you don't need to measure or print the diagram on your paper (you can fold the verticals as shown in this vid).
