This is a popular pattern to imitate a stone fly in its larva stage. The rubber leg can be fished all year where you'll find the adult stone flies. The best way to fish this fly is with another fly dropped from your rubber leg and fish them along the bottom of the river along banks behind rocks or wherever fish are hanging out. Good luck and be sure to visit www.easternidahoflyfishing.com for more ideas on dropper flies.
@ElBote54 Ya I have the same silly legs that your talking about too its just another variation of the silly legs, or at least I'm pretty sure anyway now you've got me questioning myself I'm not at my desk so I'll double check and let you know. I'm pretty sure they're silly legs though. I've seen them at Sportsmans Warehouse and Cabellas soo. I'll double check though

I've got Sili - Legs. The ones you're using look more textured than the smooth surfaced ones I'm using But they also look stiffer! That's why I asked "what brand"?
Thanks

@ElBote54 silly legs they come in a brown black orange all kinds of colors you can use to match whatever body color your trying to match. I saw a new way to tie this rubber leg I should probably post that video too but if you watch the mega prince video it gives a visual to my words. What I do is I take a 2x long size 4 nymph hook then I give it a bend about a 1/3 of the way down from the eye of the hook. then I tie the rubber leg the same way. It makes a huge difference.
