Uri Chanoch was 13 when he was forced to move with his family into the Kovno ghetto. Recruited into the underground movement in order to steal vital work permits, Uri was severely beaten by the Germans for refusing to divulge the hiding place of his younger brother. With the liquidation of the ghetto in July 1944, Uri and his family were deported to Germany. Losing his mother, father and sister in the Holocaust, Uri survived Dachau and Auschwitz. Escaping from a blown up transport and hiding in the forest until liberation by American soldiers, Uri was later reunited with his brother Dani, and the two immigrated to Israel in 1946. Uri was recruited into the Palmach and participated in the battles for Jerusalem, later becoming an officer in the IDF. He was an active industrialist and is engaged in public service.

  • Telling the Nazi's to burn in hell is to absolve responsibility of preventing such an atrocity occurring again. Prisoners which "thank God" for surviving the Holocaust neglect the sheer hideousness of being taken to the camps in the first place. Humans did this, we MUST remember what WE are capable of and make certain that it does not happen again. The responsibility lays with us and it laid with the Nazis, not God.

  • Such a sad time. I don't blame all the Germans but THEIR NAZI leader during the War He got my full RAGE. He shouldn't have done that, just because they were in trouble didn't mean they have the right to push the blame on the JEWS. IF anything I wish I was the one to kill him instead of him committing suicide. Those who killed the JEWS in Camps should burn in the blazing sun like the scum bags they are.

  • @Chombies They will

  • My heart cries out in pain for these people. Everytime I watch documentaries about the Holocaust...I can't even breathe? These people didn't deserve any of the torture or abuse that was inflicted upon them. I can't believe Hitler or the SS Guards could do this to their own people. Digusting. I pray that all the souls that suffered and the survivors find peace. ...Also, I thank God for life. This is very humbling.

  • @bandslamchick The army didn't kill the jews, the SS did. Those SS members deserve to burn...

  • To not be able to feel any emotions because nothing could ever compare to what happened is just awful. I can't imagine not being able to cry, laugh, love...but they did. They had to to survive. Such brave men, women, and children. God bless. Don't ever be ashamed of who you are. Stand by your religion and what you think is right.

  • nobody will know how much anger i have on hitler and his army. all the killed will live forever in my heart and so will their stories. the end.

  • this is so sad. i saw a holocaust movie in u.s history class. words cant describe how horrible that situation was. if i couldnt see my family again i dont know what ill do. id be shut off completly. god bless those surviours and may those people who had life taken from them may they rest in peace.

  • @EmOhLee12345 The total number killed was 9 million innocent people. 6 million jews were killed, but 3 million gypsies, homosexuals, jahovah's witnesses, black people, and disabled people were also killed. I agree with you, its horrendous.

  • that is soooo sad i just about cried :'(
