The last song from his 1968 appearance at Tanglewood. And one of my favorite Ellis compositions.

  • I wish that I could obtained the rights or at least found the master to add to my Documentary Film ELECTRIC HEART of this great concert. Saddly, there is very little of Don Ellis footage out there and most of it recorded badly as well.

  • @JEV1A

Your documentary was awesome. All the interviews and sounds, concert clips. Really tremendous. Thank you so much for putting that together. I too wish there were more out there with Don. When I was in high school and college ( pretty much the 70's ) along with Maynard, he was a huge influence. And along with the other posters, a shame he seems to be forgotten now. A true genius!

  • Ah Yes the Conn "Multivider" for getting a Double Octave on Ellis' Trumpet Solo.

I LOVE this live footage !!!

  • Like my teacher said to a class friend when he was dissing one of Don's solos

"this is a band you could shop off your left arm just to play in it"

  • Here you guys go: 01:35

  • Superb, I like this rough playing

  • @TheJomogogo Actually, he died in 1978 at age 44. Still, far too young.

  • @HanumanDas420

I cannot believe the audience didn't applaud at 3:30 when Ellis ended his solo, WTF were they playing at a high school ?

They should have gone nuts when he finished playing.

  • 3:00 - 3:20 the most fucking awesome end EVER to a solo, it would be fitting to play that and then die with no regrets.

  • @TheJomogogo He died at 44.

  • GAAAAAAH No wonder it's so hard to play on my own!
