A video compilation of driving the 1979 "IH Cadet 85 Special" that I converted to a "go kart" back in '93, by removing the fiberglass body and some slight re-gearing. I replaced the 8HP B&S motor with a 12.5HP B&S I/C engine in '95. This video was shot in August 2003.

  • how'd ya get it so fast...different gear ratio?

  • @christhetromboneguy I changed the gear ratio on it in two places.... The pullies between the engine and transmission were originally 2" drive and 8" driven. I changed it to 5" drive and 3" driven. The transmission to rear axle is a chain drive, the axle has 72 teeth, the trans originally had an 8 tooth sprocket, I installed a 14 tooth sprocket and added 3 links to the chain to make up for this difference.

It works but is really hard on drive belts. 1/2" belt isn't made to take that abuse.
