Ice out Chain Pickerel on the fly. This fish hit right off of some structure. It has something big in its stomach that it has not digested. Fish was still feeding too..maybe they are eggs? Many people give pickerel a bad rap. This is unwarranted..they are a great game fish. Most often this comment comes from people using the wrong gear. Catch and release quickly, and do not grab pickerel with pliers or other objects. Get a Boga and handle it the right way!

  • I love fly fishing for chain pickerel. We have a pond/lake in our area that's pretty shallow all over. Wouldn't get a boat with a motor in there. So it's great for canoe or float tube fishing.

I took two friends in there with me one hot summer day and we hooked and released about 100 fish that day.

None of them are big. They average about 18-20 inches, which is still a lot of fun on light tackle.

  • @Showmeyourtitties No its not. they are in the same family but they are not the same.

  • @bassmaster1231 lol i know some people(1421keith1241) who calls it a pike and at kind of ticks me off lol

  • The chain pickerel is a species of fish in the pike family. Its range is along the eastern coast of North America from southern Canada to Florida. The chain pickerel has a distinctive chainlike pattern on its sides and its body resembles that of the northern pike.

this is fact.....read up on your species before we trash talk here. I bet where you fish there are many different species you never head of. Ducks and Geese look alike but are different species too...dont be narrowminded folks.
