This video shows the interior concrete pour of the Oakland Kitchen/Dining Area remodel.
The previous floor had areas that were recessed 2-1/4" to accommodate a brick floor as well as an area that had been separated by a partition wall which had a depressed slab of 6".
We eliminated the baseboard radiant heating in these areas and installed hydronic radiant heating (the red tubing).
Additionally, we had to repair the areas that we were required to break-through the existing slab to run additional plumbing and gas lines to accomodate the new design and lay-out of the revised kitchen area.
We used fiber and plasticiizer in the concrete mixture to help alleviate excessive cracking since the concrete will hold moisture longer than typical, due to the fact that we are pouring the new concrete over existing concrete. Additionally, we used and adhexive/primer on all areas where we did pour "concrete over concrete".
