I think she is not bad or good. (Except for the South Auckland bit)

yes.. well.. 'nuff said ;)

the wise would not prejudge some one before they have been in office long enough to give grounds for such judgment .
there are many maiden speeches that are boring . you picked the Asian one to degrade .
that point did not go unnoticed .
( btw .. its a biblical proverb .not Confucian )

The wise recognise politically naiive celebrity candidates, but the foolish elevate them to high office and praise their moronic ramblings...
Seriously calisto, we'll never agree so lets just leave it there without the mock confucian wisdom, eh?

simple & concise .rather then attention seeking . she came across as a person who has a job to get on with and is keen to get on with it and this speech was a simple formality in the process of beginning that job .
the wise build a house ,but the foolish tear it down before it is established .

In comparison to just about every other maiden speech I have ever heard over the years. She speaks like she's reading from cue cards. Awful - and the writing??!! Don't even go there..

in comparison to what Darren?

awesome job , glad you are where you are .
(who is your God by the way ? ;)
What a boring, turgid, uninspiring maiden speech. Yawn.

I dont think darren picked a speech made by an asian. I think it's those musicians and artists out there who think they ought to support lefties to look more articulate and intelligent. Look at Hollywood. They all support Dem. And as Melissa mentioned in the speech, kiwi kids are growing up lost between Ameri, Brit, Auss TV shows. No wonder some self claimed artist pops up and have a go at National. Posers.
