Nike nuclear missile launcher in operation

The only surviving (restored) Nike missile site in existence, north of San Francisco. There are hundreds of these sites abandoned across the country. All are flooded or filled in. @Nmaley101 the Unit I belonged to @ Lone Jack, MO also had 3 magazines. I was a missile crewman at Battery B, 3rd Missile Battalion, 128th Artillery, MO Army National Guard. We did SNAP (short notice annual practice) launches at White Sands, NM annually to insure readiness and proficiency.

Served in a Nike Herc Unit in Swedesboro, New Jersey in the '70's. Part of the Philadelphia Air Defense Command.

@Nmaley101 i was told a story by some GIs that lost a couple of stripes after they got drunk from the "Rocket Juice" as they called it, i heard one or more stages was powered with alcohol.
