During the Salvador civil war the Catholic Church was torn between leftist guerillas and the right wing US supported government. This film explores the conflict and its relationship with the Catholic Church. When Archbishop Oscar Romero was murdered his death served to catalyse rapid growth for the communist rebellion. He had become associated with the rebel movement and his death also saw the El Salvadorean Catholic church dragged deeply into the conflict. A powerful report on the conflict with unique coverage of the guerilla and jungle life and the horrific urban violence. Strong images of Pope John Paul's visit.

  • The people of this wonderful country have endured, suffered wars, hurricanes, earthquakes, and it yet continues to be resilient. The best asset this country has is its people.

  • @12casti show me one internet source that shows that pedophile catholic priests have been locked behind bars instead of being just suspended. i would love to see that.

  • @12casti by the way, i remember my history teacher claiming that christianity was a major influence on freeing the slaves in the usa. if there really is a christian writing that mentions being anti slavery, i would love to see it. i'm not sure if you're right, just saying.

  • @12casti central america would be better off under one fascist state tin which the government focuses on eliminating gangs and religion and improving the whole economy while making every citizen be a participating member of the society instead of letting them be unemployed outcasts of their own nation for good, even if a few innocent people must suffer. the catholic church and gangs are big burdens on el salvador and other countries.

  • @MetalBassjunkie420

The Christian writings were written in a society which depended on slavery.

Non of the Christian writings mention no to slavery. So, there is no surprise about the luxury from the Catholic clergy.

  • @kukumatz100.

I share your point. It is not their fault though, it is the catholic psychology what makes them think that if one is not either a priest or a nun there is no ethical or proper behavior to follow every day. Horrible.

  • @pangetska The Catholic elite is causing many problems and in other countries. Prove me wrong. Bet you can't, can you?

  • @tetekofa Evil do not worship God...

    Something wrong with you !

  • God bless him !!

  • Fuck the right-wing catholics!!!

  • @pangetska He is right. The Catholics have invaded parts of America, exploited the resources and the people, and with all that wealth, they have funded their wars. While the Pope lives in his luxurious home living the rich life, Native Americans including Mexicans and Central American poor people live in poverty and hunger while some of them bend their knees for the Catholic faith.
