Meanwhile, Dr Christian catches up with diabetic Tim, who was warned last year about not taking his condition seriously. Diabetes affects 2.3 million people in the UK. If it is not controlled 90% of sufferers could go blind, 80% could gain cardiovascular disease and become 15 times more likely to lose a limb. Last year, Tim was losing sensation in his fingers, now he is managing his blood sugar level much better and it is the lowest it has ever been, which means better long term health for Tim.

This new series explores the conditions and ailments that leave many of us a little red-faced and aims to de-stigmatise common complaints. Three doctors -- Dawn Harper, Christian Jessen and Pixie McKenna -- will be throwing open the doors of the clinic in a bid to tackle each condition head on, while attempting to take away the sting of shame.
