I suck at this because I can't swim straight without looking at the water line below me (-_-)'. The flag markers help for my campus' outdoor pool, but they don't tell me if I am swimming straight until I hit the sides of my lane.

I find them very helpful. I am a terrible swimmer-in fact I don't think what I do in the water can be called swimming. It's more like controlled drowning.
