A very good video! Do you every have any issues with your FSC twisting/curving? I've been trying to master the foundation stitches (FSC and FDC) but I always seem to get it curving inwards (like a backwards C. I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's just the nature of the stitch.

I have a post just about this! YouTube doesn't let me post links, though. Let's see if this works ... go to my site and then go to this link: /craft_blog/2009/6/fsc-are-you-curling.aspx

The only thing before this is making a slip knot and putting the loop on your crochet hook. I added a link to a good tutorial for that in the video description above.

If you meant something else, please clarify your comment.

It would be exactly the same except you'd "yarn over" as the first step every time and then instead of making a sc at the end, you'd make a dc (one extra "yarn over and pull through two loops" at the end). Cake!

I tend to shy away from patterns with stitches that I don't know but I decided to risk it this time. The pattern I wanted to try had this Foundation Single Crochet stitch in it and I had never seen it before so I went looking for a tutorial. This tutorial was very easy to understand and I believe it will help me greatly. Thank you so much

Thank you! Love this tutorial and the "grab" makes it so much easier to understand. I can never fine the "chain" to re-insert my hook to! I've been teaching myself how to crochet via YouTube, demos in craft stores and the Crochet Dr. at the Lion Brand store. You all have made it so easy and I'm totally "hooked"!
