Yeah, it's untrue.

However, if I remember right, the U.S. and others backed Franco against the Communists. In those delicate circumstances, the Soviet Union had to take a realistic approach. Britain allied with the Soviet Union out of necessity, as the imperialists had proven that ideally they would have 'negotiated' with Hitler to destroy the Soviet Union. There's no sense in openly defying them and thereby trying to take on more enemies at once when the first priority was to stop the Nazis.

Not that I've heard. I heard some sell-out "communists" supported the bourgeois republic fully. They certainly didn't support the fascists though.

I think many anarchists and many communists feel betrayed by what they supposedly did to each other during the Spanish Civil War, and so each accuses the other of being fascists or general reactionaries.

The other day, an anarchist told me that communists are really fascists, and the communists were with Franco during the Spanish Civil War to crush the labor movement or something. Is this true? I doubt it.
