That pawn fork is so common and obvious that I was waiting for the trap to be white somehow making it not work for black... but no, that was it, a beginner's tactic. Yeah, never seen that one buddy. You know notation AND you're quoting GM games? Just who do you think is your audience here if you're billing this as a trap? This is a fork, an elementary tactic.

You sound like raymond..

Good thing to look out for when playing either side with opening developments. I will keep my eye out for this now, thanks.

thank u so much for the video, I personally play the grandprix, and would likely have eventually fallen into this trap soon.

RENAME YOUR VIDEO. IT ISN'T A TRAP. IT'S A BLUNDER BY WHITE

He sounds like Cleveland Brown from Family Guy

There was no trap there, white just screwed himself over?
I guess it depends how you define "trap." Horowitz and Reinfeld, who wrote "Chess Traps, Pitfalls and Swindles," might have called it a "pitfall" rather than a trap. But whatever you call it, a lot of people fall into it, and not just patzers.

Good try, Akshaylive. But after your suggested 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Nc3 Nc6 5.d3 e6 6.0-0 Be7 7.Be3?? d5 8.e5, Black still wins a piece for a pawn with 8...Nd7, e.g. (A) 9.Nxd5 exd5 10.Bxd5 Ndxe5 or (B) 9.Bb5 d4 10.Bxc6 bxc6 11.Nxd4cxd4 12.Bxd4 c5 13.Be3 Nxe5.
