My kid just got a brand new Nintendo DS Lite. Unfortunately it keeps rebooting when you turn it un, and it can do so 8-10 times before it starts up. It does this rebooting no matter whether the battery is fully charged or not, and no matter whether there is a cartridge in the slot or not. He would be devastated if I have to send it back to the shop, as it could easily take weeks to repair, so I'm hoping this is something relatively easy that I may be able to fix myself - any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I took the NDS back to the store, and had it replaced with a new one, free of charge

  • Omg that is awesome and that is comin from a girl !

  • @Purly The blue screen, I can't say for sure because it shows so shortly, but that could easilly be a BSOD (blue screen of death) which happens when the DS crashes. It's happened several time with my old DSlite.

To the owner of this DSlite: Have you tried removing the extra cover around this DS? I haven't heard of any trouble with covers, but it's worth a try, right?

  • @KikyoMaaka Many flashcards will automatically skip the health and safety screen. My R4DS does so too, and so does my sister's CycloDS.

The screen with a chibi face on it as you call it, is the TTDS (flashcard) saying there isn't a microSD card in it.

The system itself hasn't been modded, it's either wired wrong, or programmed wrong. I don't think there's an easy fix for this, but they should be able to fix it for free if they still have the reciept, or a warantee subscription, like I do.

  • Do you have a r4 card?

  • can i have it

  • 4 sticky covers on the top screen, looks kinda foggy. i think it's a fake nds.

  • Wait, I think you are using a flash card/homebrew.

    :/

  • That system didn't boot properly. A DS is supposed to come up with the Health and Safety screen, then have "Touch the Touch Screen to continue" flashing at the bottom; it shouldn't load up like that on its own, or even go to such a screen (both the blue and weird loading one with the chibi face on it).

I smell a fake system. Or at least a modded one.
