This is Crash, our "non" disc dog, although it's apparent he likes the disc alot more since doing the shows this past summer!

  • wmg sucks, I am just about ready to leave youtube for higher ground........sorry to my viewers for the lack of sound on this video.

  • Nice dog. HOWEVER: Aussie, not Catahoula. Period.

  • Hate to tell ya'll, but Crash is a pb Catahoula..........runt of a litter that couldn't be sold and was dumped into our county pound, papers and all. Yes, it's pretty obvious he comes from cruddy lines, not your typical 'houla in body type and looks, but 110% 'houla in personality. We love him for what he is! A good dog, period.

  • Yep, catahoulas don't normally like discs, it has taken 5 yrs of training to get Crash to play. He is a purebred, runt of the litter dumped at the pound when they couldn't sell him.

  • Do your research. They are very much a real breed. True Catahoula breeders don't want to join the AKC because it will take away from the true hunting and herding qualities of the dog in favor of physical traits.

  • So great to see a Cat in action. All you uninformed dog "experts".. The Catahoula Leopard Dog is the state dog of Louisiana. Now if you tried to tell me he was a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever I'd know you made it up.

  • My Catahoula loved agility and pretty much would do anything I wanted him to try. There is a lot of variety in the looks of the breed - from very mastiff looking to more traditional "Hound" to ones that could be mistaken for Aussie Cattle dogs (the more common place people see the Blue Merle color).

  • I agree! Tired of WMG. But Great dog though! I am just so in love with CLD, I've been researching them for a while and met one too. But you've given new hope because I definitely want a dog that can do Frisbee and agility.

  • I am the owner of a purebred Catahoula who not only plays Frisbee but can fetch and catch like no other. They area very versatile intelligent dog who I believe could be trained to do just about anything.

Bred to herd wild boar and cattle, they can even climb trees. They are a wonderful intelligent breed and anyone who has a dog that even has part Catahoula in them is very lucky and has a friend for life.

  • Wow, so many opinions on the Catahoula. So much misinformation.

I suggest some people do a search on the breed and so some reading up. Don Abney has a great book in print on the breed with accurate information. There is such a breed, it is a purebred, (although NOT AKC) and the name is not a mixed breed quirky name. It comes from the fact the dog is the state dog of Louisiana and centered around Catahoula Parrish.

Catahoulas come in many color variations and some DO have bob tails.
