This song is from the 12 Girlfriends CD.

I wrote it while living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-- I had the use of a keyboard with fairly realistic orchestral sounds, and so I thought I'd create a symphonic sounding piece. The main theme was carried by an oboe, with strings carrying the moving chords beneath.

Then the bridge was a French Horn solo, a beautiful soaring part that (I hoped) would send shivers down one's spine.

There was something haunting about the melody, but I never thought to put words to it. It was just a pretty piece that I made with a synthesizer.

Then one late night I was playing alone, in a big church with a grand piano-- I had been going through emotional challenges, and I hoped that "time" would give me perspective and someday make it all easier. The words sort of fell out upon the page and captured, I think, my feelings fairly accurately.

The story doesn't end there though. When my wife and I decided to get married, I hired a string quartet and wrote/arranged the music for the ceremony. I decided that this song, in instrumental form, would be wonderful for her to come down the aisle to. The soaring French Horn part was carried by the cello or the viola, (can't remember now) and much of the warmth and power was preserved.

I hope you enjoy!

Lyrics:

Time can heal all wounds and
Years dull the aching soul
But if-- then I would choose
Time of You soon, before I grown old.

Men say, "Don't show pain."
Ladies cry; but I in vain.
Conflict grows within my mind.
To love and to give like
Falling behind.

Time of you. Fill me with time of you now-
I don't have years to follow.
You can bring
Healing and then
Sorrows will leave me
Memories won't grieve me again.
