The UW CSE Band is a computer science parody rock band composed of grad students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle. We perform mostly at department events, and our music makes fun of anything and everything relating to computer science, programming, and life as a grad student. This video is from the TGIF on May 27. As of spring 2011, the band consists of:
Alex Colburn (lead guitar)
Laura Effinger-Dean (vocals)
Rebecca Fiebrink (keyboard)
Andrew Guillory (bass guitar, vocals)
Kristi Morton (drums, vocals)
Lyrics:
Hey! Do su
What I like about root
I'm in control
Kill all of the other jobs!
I gotta use the cluster tonight
My advisor gave me root access
And I intend to use in excess
Cause it's true
That's what I like about root
What I like about root
Install in /usr
No more prefix equals
when I run a configure
My advisor gave me root access
I delete his files when I'm stressed
Cause it's true
That's what I like about root
...
What I like about root
I'm uninstalling emacs
Wipe out all the system files
I'm reinstalling Linux tonight
My advisor gave me root access
Now I rent cycles to Russian botnets
Cause it's true
That's what I like about root
...
Hah! Nice performance, awesome lyrics. Root is the bomb.
