Billy Eckstine would finish in 9th place on American Idol. That is how dumbed-down the American public is now. Garbage music, food, movies and TV.

2-13-13 Sorry about the typo. It should have read Vic Damone.

Dave, if you are a true romantic as am I, there is no comparison between Art Jarrett's and Billy Ecksteine's voices. Art Jarrett's sound (with a slight hint of Irish) is the same as all the other male vocalists of that era, whereas Ecksteine's voice, style and phrasing, is original and superb, perhaps equaled only by Vic Dameove. Ecksteine's version of this song wins the romance award hands down. Just ask the woman in your arms with whom you are dancing to this song.

Billy Eckstine!!! One of the greatest popular singer/stylists of all time....what beautiful phrasing...pretty 'naff' arrangement though, similar, in that fact, to the original sung by Art Jarrett from the movie Dancing Lady 1933...another beautiful, although completely different version of this beautiful song with a very ordinary arrangement.I think I like Art's version better....but then again, I'm a romantic. not only don't we have great singers today, we don't have any new music for them to sing if we did have real singers.... i wonder what they're gonna play in 25 years from now. they can't even remember any of the great big hits that mc hammer had now, so hows the rap crap gonna last. eckstine sounds great to my ears still today. as does a lot of that era of singers.
