my grandpa and I were watching this movie and this scene my grandpa told me that they would not had gottten away with that shit. My late grandpa was a WW2 vet.

This movie spawned the popularity of the use of "Do Wah Diddy" as a cadence.
-
Basic (General training now) during a cadet camp - this became our Squad's cadence. We'd start "forced march" and instead of yelling out "Hey ho Captain Jack" We yelled out this instead.
Ahhhh fun times it was when I was a little basic Cadet.

they would let them do that, it is considerd a marching beat. and they encourage them to do it....when i was in jump school we all did that same song.
-
this is a comedy not a drama. although you're right Sgt. Hartman wouldn't take any crap one bit.
-
I am so singing this with a buddy of mine when I go airsofting. Complete it with the marching.
I'd like to see them try to pull that shit with Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from "Full Metal Jacket."

The original script was written as Cheech and Chong Join the Army. They wanted too much cash, so they went with plan B. Stripes with Bill Murray and Harold Ramis.
