The issue of Dalits not being given an entry in the temples of Orissa has drawn wide attention and the National commission for SC has warned Orissa Government to end the discrimination at the earliest. Now, a fresh allegation by Orissa's Biju Janata dal MLA from Dashpala assembly constituency Kashinath Mallick of being discriminated by his colleagues and the district administration has started a fresh controversy.

Mallick alleged he was intentionally kept away from the group launch table in the Nayagarh District Planning and review meeting because he is an SC.

MLA from Nayagarh Arun Sahu, Ranpur MLA Satyanarayan Pradhan, Khandpada MLA Siddarth Sekhar Singh, Myself and Kandhmal MP Rudramadhav Ray and Collector Arvind Agrawall were there. They all were in refreshment room. I didn't know what they were doing. I even didn't know there was a launch arrangement. I was discussing something with an officer at a corner of the room. At that time DRDA Project Director Devendra Prasad Das came with food on a disposable leaf plate and kept there. I was shocked for being served the food at a lonely place, said Kashinath Mallick.

MLA Kashinath and his wife have given a complaint to the Speaker of the Orissa Assembly appealing for justice.

The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who always claims his government to be a Pro-Dalit one, has said that he is still looking into the matter to do his best.

However, such repeated cases of discrimination put a bigger challenge for the Naveen Patnaik government to end caste based discrimination in the state of Orissa.

  • i don't understand these people all look the same to me

  • @4thAugust1932 i love that idea. i am Indian dalit. i also think that there should be something serious done to prevent injustice. but dalits are so meek and they are not organized. before something that serious is done dalits should be organized on common grounds. then it is easy to support your force from japan. so first bussiness is to organize dalits.

  • Every caste should be given homeland as per 4th august 1932 round table conference resolutions.

  • I live in Japan and intend to setup a team of gunmen who'll travel anytime & anywhere in India to protect 300 million SC/ST people from atrocities for a small nominal fee. Please give your feedback.
