this and ferris beuller my two favourite films of all time. My childhood was like stand by me... well apart from the dead body and the fact it was set in the 50's! still have the same childhood friends

When I was younger I had 3 friends like Gordie did and we were all best friends till I was about 13. Stephen King was right when he wrote that you never have any friends like the ones when you were 12. I'm 19 going on 20 and I still see my old friends where I live, some with children, some on drugs, but it upsets me to think they've probably forgotten all about the memories and I'm cherishing them till I die. I see me as Gordie and how he broke away and did something with his life.

I love this song too. I can't stop listening to it. Man I wish I could have this kind of bromance with my friends. But these days. people will just call you gay. lol. but yeah. this movie is amazing
