I've always loved this piece since I first heard Janos Starker perform it. Then I saw Mischa's equally great performance and decided I wanted to try this on the guitar. Though there are a couple of transcriptions available, they change the key and the feel of the piece. I wanted to get as close to the cello version as possible. So, I took the cello score, tuned the 6th string down to C and kept the piece in the original D Minor key. I worked out the fingering so almost the entire piece is on the bass strings which gives the closest feel, color and timbre to the cello. ... enjoy!
