After posting a couple of rubbishy games, I thought it was time to post a good one.
I got this for Christmas with Trantor The Last Stormtrooper. I was in two minds whether to ask for this or Afterburner but I think I made the right choice.
Considering the limitations of the good ol' Speccy, the fidelity to the arcade machine is really impressive. There is a bit of slow down but overall the gameplay is fluid and enjoyable.
Each level consists of 3 subsections: a 3D overhead view, a 3D behind view and a 2D overhead attack view. They are all well implemented. Also, unlike on some other machines, the Spectrum port allows you to control speed and height independently.
This is the 48K version with multiload. I'm not sure if there is any difference at all on the 128K.
the spectrum has more balls than the sega master system, at least the chopper goes up and down like it does in the arcade and does not stay fixed on top of the screen like a 1943 shooter!

considering the limitations of the spectrum, people were really imaginative with the games that they created during that time. Of course, that was also before publishers became all-powerful and started saying "you have to make either a 3d first person shooter, or casual game like bejewelled, or we won't publish it because it might damage our profits" Oh, and there has to be a flashy menu screen with so many options that you get bored before the game has even begun.
