Fastest way to peel an egg WITHOUT TOUCHING YOUR MOUTH! Tim Ferriss' and others use a method that is a little slower and requires one to put the egg up to their mouth and blow the egg out. Rinsing off that egg could still harbor germs without washing. In other words, it wouldn't be proper to server to anyone other than yourself.

The 3-second, one-handed) hard-boiled egg peel method works best when following these techniques:

1. eggs are 2-3 weeks fresh. fresher eggs adhere to the shell a little more. Eggs are good for about a month in the refrigerator.

2. Boil a dozen or more at once to batch the process.

3. Put them in the refrigerator over night

4. in the morning take them out and let them sit and "sweat" to room temperature and humidity.

5. Drop the egg on a hard surface and roll off shell

  • Another thing I would say is that you want to get organic or eggs right from the farmer - cage free. Many commercial/factory eggs can come from stressed chickens, more junk in their feed to artificially boost production & lower quality.

I buy farmer direct, cage free & you can see the difference in the shade of yellow yolk and the strength of the shell. Weak shells, light yolks are what I avoid.

If you have a farmer's market get them there and spend the extra few cents an egg.

  • That's pretty cool but you are WAY overcooking the egg. The yolk must be all chalky. I place the eggs in cold water, turn heat on high and then let them go until the water has been boiling for 5 minutes. Immediately place in a ice water bath to cool quickly. They don't peel as easy as yours but fairly easy and the yolk is perfect. Overcooking damages the protein in the egg.

  • @samherb1 - I agree - If I were to boil them for 15 minutes the eggs would be damaged. It was a quick video and I didn't explain it as well as I could have. I put the eggs in cool water and let them boil. The whole process takes about 15 min. Then I let them sit for an hour.

Thanks Sam for the clarification. I totally agree.

  • This works best when you use eggs that are not fresh. Eggs that are about 2 weeks fresh are better & don't adhere to the shell as much as day-old eggs. Just an observation and a comment from the farmer I buy the eggs from.

  • you look like a younger seth mcfarlane
