Hi, Simone. What is philosophy?

Hi, Rey. Philosophy comes from 2 Greek words, "philo" and "sophia," which mean love of wisdom. It's philosophia in Latin. In short, philosophy is the search for knowledge and truth.

Simone, what does one study in philosophy?

Well, Rey. There's ontology, epistemology, axiology, logic, as well as social & political philosophy.

Simone, could you please explain what are ontology, epistemology, axiology, logic, as well as social & political philosophy.

Sure, Rey. Ontology is sometimes called cosmology or metaphysics. Ontology is the study of the nature of being. Epistemology is also called gnosiology. Epistemology is the study of

the theory of knowledge. Axiology is the study of aesthetic and ethical values. Logic is the study of reasoning, including inductive & deductive methods. Social and political

philosophy is the study of what is good in society and what is the best form of government. There's ancient, medieval, modern, and postmodern philosophy.

Wow, Simone. I'm impressed with philosophy. I will embark on studying philosophy. Adieu, Simone.

That's wonderful, Rey. Au revoir, mon ami,
