The video shows an APS thermal inkjet printer mounted onto a datamatrix barcoding station where a 2D barcode is printed along with 3 lines of text. Each print is inspected and a grade assigned to the bar code. All the prints shown are accepted, though rejects can be ejected from the conveyor into a reject bin.
Thermal Inkjet printing with its high resolution, clean operation and high speed capability is ideal for the online coding of pharmaceutical cartons, particularly where a datamatrix barcode is required -- now a requirement under French CIP-13 legislation. The high speed interfacing of the APS printer allows for the parent machine to load a unique serialisation number for each pack providing for future "Track and Trace" requirements.
This system has been fully validated for pharmaceutical product produces high quality codes all day, every day. Non-porous surfaces can be accommodated by use a unique alcohol based ink formulation.
