The original Teletronix LA-3A Audio Leveler made its debut at the 1969 New York AES show. Marking a departure from the tube design of the LA-2A Leveling Amplifier, the solid-state LA-3A offered a new sound in optical gain reduction, with faster attack and release characteristics that were noticeably different from its predecessor. Immediately embraced as a studio workhorse, the LA-3A is still widely used today.

  • the true comparison would be to put the same drum loop through fruity loops's built in compressor tweaked to an identical sounding setting vs this compressor, then doing a double blind test and asking people to spot the difference. Most people wouldn't be able to! even if they could tell the difference, the question of which sounds better would be purely subjective and mean absolutely nothing in the end.

  • Slam it all full on lead vocals, almost perfect!

  • i use this one on the snare, toms, and room mics.. also makes a great limiter for standup bass..

  • la-3a is a must buy! i use it all the time

  • Damn, These Plug-ins Sound Damn Near Better Than Hardware Now Days.............WoW!!!!!
