THIS VIDEO IS OLD. It was posted in 2009. You can still try it out, and it should work, but since this was posted nearly two years ago things have changed a lot. There are most probably much better methods on YouTube for EasyCap now.

Enjoy. I've scanned these files multiple times with multiple virus programs, but to be safe, scan them yourself before you install them.

EasyCap content to YouTube using EasyCap. Enjoy, rate, comment, pass on to friends... you know, the works. :)

This video does NOT, however, show you how to set up your video game systems to be connectible to the EasyCap. That's something you have to do on your own; as such, this guide assumes you have cables ready to plug into the computer.

Using this guide, you will be able to make videos of this quality:

*!!!FOREWARNING!!!* The stuff in this video has been confirmed to work by me with my EasyCap, Wii/360, and Vista. I've also tried it on XP, all in NTSC format and it works fine. Still, though, please understand that I assume zero responsibility if you screw something up. Nothing bad should happen, but still, don't get mad at me if something /does/ happen. Use of this guide is at your own risk.

*NOTE* This tutorial was intended for those with NTSC systems. I don't know how to record PAL stuff. Sorry. :(

What you need:

- A console
- Cables to run to the EasyCap (if you want the quality to be better, make sure that you're using an S-Video cable, NOT a Composite cable)
- A computer
- This .zip file:

FAQ:

Q. Why isn't my video showing up in AMCap/VirtualDub?
A. Ensure that you've chosen the proper connection in AMCap based upon what cable you're using (composite or S-Video). Second, make sure that NSTC_M is chosen in AMCap under Video Capture Filter. Third, ensure that your console is NTSC. If it still doesn't work, check all your cables.

Q. Why do we have to use AMCap/Why can't I just use VirtualDub to change the Capture Filter?
A. VirtualDub is very picky with what devices it will edit, for some random reason. It has a tough time changing settings with PAL-based devices like the EasyCap. AMCap is the smallest program out there that I could find that could change the Capture Filter settings on the EasyCap. Once you've changed it for the driver, it remembers it, so it changes the filter for VirtualDub as well.

Q. When I capture the video, the screen becomes garbled/I can't see what's going on. What do I do?
A. First, know that that is simply the preview window doing this. It does not look like that on the video you're capturing (after you've captured, watch the video yourself -- the garbled screen is not there). If you'd like to fix this anyway, though, stop the capture if you haven't already. Go to Video on the top menu, and try whatever is not chosen between "Preview" and "Overlay". Try capturing again. This should solve the problem.

Q. My video doesn't have the HD option on YouTube! Help!
A. First, did you edit it after doing the steps outlined in the guide? If not, then just wait. It can take a long time to have a video get the HD option enabled (it's taken up to a day for me before). Just give it time.

Q. I checked the raw video file directly after capturing, and the video's offsync when I play it in (media player program)! What do I do?
A. You're gonna have to change some settings. Open up VirtualDub, go to the Capture AVI area again, then go to Capture -- Timing. Ensure that the first two options are checked, then make sure Null frame burst limit is set to 10. Next, ensure resampling is chosen (it's the third option out of the three radio buttons). Make sure the next two options are unchecked, then make sure you've chosen "Automatic" instead of "Manual" (with the number to the right set to 0). Finally, ensure that "use audio timestamps when available" is checked (but make sure the other two options are off. That should fix syncing issues.

If you have anymore questions, ask in the comments.

Now, the only issue from here is if you want to edit the video further. If you want to edit the video further, be sure you know what you're doing. Encode the edited video using the x264 video codec (other codecs work, I'm sure, but this is the only one I can confirm works), with a 1290x720 resolution. This is the only resolution I know works. If you have another method that works, send me a message and I'll add it.

If you have Vista, the Movie Maker that is included with Vista supports HD outputting (there's aworkaround for XP... search around for on YouTube Windows Movie Maker XP YouTube HD). When publishing the movie, simply select "Windows Media HD 720p". The outputted video /should/ show up as HD on YouTube.
