Some areas of Edinburgh have been hit by metre-high flooding after heavy rain fell over night.

Residents in the Cameron Toll area of the city were amongst the worst affected with water entering basements and submerging gardens.

Dougie Barnett, who has lived in his cottage on Old Dalkeith Road for 17 years, revealed how the flooding was the worst he had ever seen with the street converted into a river.

And Mr Barnett's neighbours -- Jim and Mary Crawford -- were forced to move out of their converted lodge in the early hours of the morning after more than one metre of water engulfed the ground floor.

  • Same area again?

  • I looked into buying the cottage featured from 9 to 15 seconds about 12 years ago. We were warned off at the time because of the flood risk to the cottage.

  • this flood was from all the IPA dougie drank the night before in the southsider

  • Dougie is so professional its almost as if he is reading from an autocue. Never knew he was so cool from the other side of the camera!

Can he tell me where to buy the wellies?
