Why does he not use Kappi more often?
Is it because his style is more condusive to kutchi? My friend who is a student of the Pazhani school feels that is the case.

Ya, Sankaran sir uses kuchi Mrdangam... but during 1996 in a concert accompanying Sri Semmangudi, Sir used Kappi and Kuchi both... and I was his "assistant" on the concert platform for that concert... what an experience that was !!!
