i would say the middle class for bass is $600-900

If you want to get mathematical about it, you can touch lightly on any simple fraction of the string (1/2, 1/3, 1/4 so on). The smaller fractions get harder though. It also means that there are two places on the strings where you can find a given harmonic(except the first overtone): one over the neck and another somewhere over the body.

yes and usaully a cheap but good bass is around $300 you can a rogue for about $100 but there really cheap and the real deal is 1000 and up
