Let's Play Wizardry 7, Part #30 - Map of the Problematique

Finding the lost CRYSTAL map turned out to be much easier than I thought it was going to be. All that was needed was a little bit of detective work.

First, by using the LORE command in dialogue with the Gorn king (the first NPC who I happened to cross paths with) I found out that the "Rattkins" had the map. Seeing as there are several Rattkin NPCs in the game, I needed to know which particular Rattkin had it, so I got the "Locate Person" spell for my cleric during the next level up and used it. This revealed that all Rattkins were dead - except the stationary NPC Barlone in the Funhouse. And sure enough, he had both the CRYSTAL and the (completely useless) FOOLS map.

For some unidentified reason, Barlone was already angry with me to begin with (perhaps because I earlier refused to pay a large sum of my gold to his henchmen?), so in this video I have to fight him for the CRYSTAL map.

He's the only npc I could never fight. I assumed he was unfightable. When I met with him much later after the first quest, he offers the entire treasure room to me for an exorbitant amount of money.  While there are rather valuable items in there, moneywise, it isn't worth the deal.
