Hardstyle is a sub.genre of techno. The kick in hardstyle is distorted and headhunterz make hardstyle without the dark atmosphere.

not all hardstyle has a "dark atmosphere" listen to /watch?v=Ol3hFmKfSLE , lol tell me if thats "dark" people, hardstyle is about uplifting melodies and unity, techno is to introspective for me, my opinion lul. peace tho =D

@Kelavmeister its all in the drum brotha. the only difference between techno dnb and dubstep is drum pattern, all the other stuff is interchangable

Haha oh boy, I still dont get the difference...
They both are electronic, sawtooth synth based songs with heavy bass and thick sounds... The only difference I can see is that hardstyle has a darker atmosphere...? Its all music, lets try and not get too hyped up on genre, and just enjoy it.

Yeah i enjoy both, and yes. it's darker atmosphere :) but also the bass and kick differs alot from hands up. Still, both genres are awesome, gotta love it <3
