@Jackle61 Then I can enlighten you about the real facts about this. If you ever bothered to read any interviews with the crew on the boats you would now know that they say that usually at least one boat hit something in the water every leg. So I can strongly recommend that you know more about things before making comments about them thinking you know everything.

@lekkki1 In rough water, I have been in small motorized boats nearly hit by whales, or vice versa.
The slapping on the water can attract whales, as that sound is actually part of their communication.

it is a shame they hit the whate but im sure while it was kocked about, a sizeable whale would be fine after the initial shock of it. whales have survived being hit by container ships so im sure his focus on the boat wasnt out of line. whale will be fine but a human life is equally as important.

its a race boat they dont have any more than necessary at all they are completly stripped

after making comment, I thought, maybe there was something wrong with the whale, could not see or hear a ship that big slapping the water that hard?
I do not know
just a shame
lekkki1; What do you think the odds are of actually hitting a whale with one of these boats. They are probably lucky to even see a whale let alone hit one.
Also, they are set up with some amazing electronics, but , they are hardly set up for submarine detection. Just a freak accident that could have been much more tragic.
