Hardly. You're settling for much less than what Conor can actually do. I don't doubt that you've listened to a shitton of Bright Eyes, and his earlier bands, etc. Everyone kept telling my MVB was Conor getting back to his roots, and I couldn't have been more excited. But I can only listen to a handful of their songs now and recognize anything he would've called his 'roots' in the earlier years. Times change, people change. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.

Conor, why did you do it? I'm all for his punk influences. That's not what bothers me. It's the lack of soul his music has now. Anything beyond 'I'm wide awake, it's morning' is a joke. I just want to slap him for not getting back on track. He just keeps insisting nothing is wrong by cranking out more shitty albums.

@BleueDeLaRue Practice makes perfect. He's no doubt a guy on his way up, but from what I heard in this video his music does nothing for my heart, mind or soul. On the bright side, at least he's not pursuing a career in rap.;-)

if you don't listen to them already, you should check out Titus Andronicus. not only are they great people (hung out with them a bit) their music is pretty much what would have happened if Conor Oberst had decided to go the punk-folk route.. voices almost exactly the same.
