To check the boiler is filled to the correct level, Im assuming you dont have the box, since there is a simple graphic illustration of how to check. Stand the engine on the lamp at the chimney end, when the boiler is filled water will flow out of the SV hole when the boiler is full. When the engine is sat down on the level again the boiler will be 3/4 full, leaving enough space to prevent priming!
I've linked a Mamod minor 2 video I received on the 14th, I'm assuming it's 1960's/70's but not sure at all. The band across the boiler is steel, and held to the plinth with nuts and screws.
Oh, one other thing... How do I tell when the boiler is 3/4 full? There's only the pressure releif valve hole to fill it! LOL
@locouk Nigle Minors up until about 1965/66 had their engine units held in place by the boiler band. After this date the engine unit saddle was reduced in size and the unit secured by a copper pop rivet.
I got this old engine. This is my best running mamod in my collection. I love it

How long will the MM2 run on a tank of water? I assume you don't fill the water tank right up to yhe top?
locouk 1 year ago
@locouk It runs for about 15-20 minutes, the boiler is filled 3/4 full.
