This banjo has 8 different woods in the rim to create a "patchwork quilt," which the owner of this banjo specifically requested. The woods are: maple, mahogany, walnut, bubinga, bloodwood, purpleheart, cherry and oak.

The neck is walnut with a bloodwood fretboard and the peghead is rosewood. This banjo includes an internal tensioning system, as well. It's strung up with nylgut strings and tuned with Pegheds mechanical tuners.
