MPs pass draft constitution

Members of Parliament formally passed the draft constitution without any amendments after two days of failed attempts to build consensus or raise numbers to see through any amendments. An exercise in futility would be among some of the accurate descriptions of the proceedings in parliament as the chamber remained something of an efficient death trap for the proposed amendments on the draft constitution. President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga joined Members of Parliament in the evening but were only in time for some spirited last minute challenge of the review procedure by Members of Parliament. The simple majority rule became the subjected of a heated debate. Here are some of the contributions from the MPs.

Can't they ever widen the parliament so they can sit decently instead of the cramped condition they are in? What if say, Karua, want to pass gas, how will the honorable MPs within the vicinity survive it? They can afford fat salaries on themselves, let them fix the old house - space out the seating!
