  • I loved this video - I'm working on a 120 year old Post Office building with the same beading. Can't thank you enough for posting this.

  • @Tenacity35 Glad I could be of help! Are you planning to post a video of your project? I'd like to see what you're working on.

  • I guess your just copying what is there, but eee gads man.. that is some hideous joints. Looks so much better when the mortar is recessed back behind the stone.

  • @viper8red If you've been doing this awhile, it's sometimes a challenge to do repairs that match the original stonework since the old work can be quite sloppy. My other video shows grapevine joints on new construction that are a better-looking example of raised beadwork. This jointing is often used locally because it's too difficult to fit this type of gneiss with a recessed joint. It's brittle, hard and unpredictable to work with a chisel - probably why the old work was sloppy to begin with.

  • i would have liked to see how you prepped the stone prior to adding the concrete

  • @fabelmo Thanks for your comment. The stone is 6" thick and was set using brick mortar. I left the joints slightly recessed so that the grout would stick better.
