this clip comes from a recent performance of my current performance ensemble which i call the nuranus vortex. it was recorded in the home of a very lovely jazz patron whom i only know as mimi who has been hosting landmark jazz events there in the lush woodlands acreage of her home just outside los angeles. for more than a quarter of a century she has hosted the finist of the very diverse jazz community that is to be found in los angeles. i know her thru my associations with members of horace tapscott's pan african peoples orchestra, whom to this day continue to provide the community of south central los angeles with the jazz legacy which is their inheritence. horace tapscot started the series more than 25 years ago. this is the 1st in a series of clips in which i will feature excerpts from that very wonderful afternoon in early january 2008. i apologise for a few of the audio gliches...seems the energy was frying the wires....but i feel that the feeling of the event out weighs any technical limitations...we do take donations if you are diguarding an old mac...feel me...
the members of the ensemble include poet will alexander, destiny mohammed on harp, nate morgan on keyboards, onaje murray on vibes, dasesi komolafi on flute, roberto miranda on bass, sonship theus on traps, issack smith on trombone, diane witherspoon and sister waberi on vocals, and myself on saxsetra...we have a cd whhich i am hoping will be finished very soon now which will be called, "a gift from trane for jackie"...
availible thru tahoe records.
i will keep you posted...
Like it just happened. Looks and feels like it was... beautiful and HIGH! Thank you, Thank you.
