These videos were taken in Detroit, Michigan in early January 2007. Shown are the Michigan Central Train Station, an ominously large, ornately designed building...that sits vacant outside of downtown.

The second is the Michigan Theater...which wasn't totally destroyed, but gutted and converted into a parking deck. Such an unfortunate life for such a grand building.

These buildings are beautiful, and I wish there was something that could be done to restore them to their former glory...they are forgotten, but not gone.

  • 1967 Come to Detroit...it's a riot!

  • So sad to see what once was a great, thriving city. I lived there for 24 years. My parents and I were one of the last holdouts of the old neighborhood to move out 25 years old and I literally barely made it out alive way back then. Our country is being destroyed by our politicians and the downfall of our society. Detroit is a perfect example of it.

  • @BlakeFalling I know, but I also commented 7 months ago about the window restoration. I just forgot about it.

  • @hop208 No you just commented an hour ago...

  • @BlakeFalling I just realized I commented on this video a few months ago, the info on the window restoration is 7 comments below this.

  • @hop208 What a disgrace, I support graffiti artists but not stupid shit like that. Stupid faggots that break windows like that give graffiti a bad name.

  • @TheDanbristol 4 Detroit's cultural power (Motown) relocated to LA. Everyone decent left with the jobs leaving the gristly underclass that most cities have as the majority population who didn't care for the architectural treasures that were left behind. If GM headquarters left the city would have completely died. To think, within less than 60 years, Detroit has gone from the wealthiest city per capita in the Western world to one of the poorest. A complete and total tragedy.

  • @TheDanbristol That's really a bit much. I fully admit that the corrupt governmental leadership in Detroit for several decades has been almost entirely Democratic, but their was a variety of factors that all seemed to coincide with one another that really did the city in. After WWII the federal government pressured manufacturers to de-centralize from cities as to decrease their risk of destruction in a nuclear was happened, 2 THE RIOTS, 3 the opening up of foreign labor markets. continued...

  • @BlakeFalling The people who coated large sections of the building's exterior with graffiti. The windows are actually going to be replaced. I read an article a few months ago that funding was secured to replace them so the interior would no longer be exposed. How that'll stop them from being broken all over again I don't know.

  • detroit is disgusting

  • rich people don't care anymore. They don't understand 'old beauty, or it's structure. They're too busy making rooms turn into what the guests want by carring around a remote controle. woooopie. Right Mr. Gates?

  • This is what all of America will look like in 50 years.
