I believe pull-ups are one of the ultimate forms of strength training exercises that can really help a person's fitness level. You can work everything from your biceps, latissimus dorsi, shoulders and abs.

  • what time duration? And i wanna ask you for advice on my pull up workout now i am doing sets of pull ups(or chin ups) and push ups in between the sets.I can do 8 normal pull ups and about 10 chin ups and for the whole workout the reps from all the sets are somthin like 60 pull ups and then i can't do more.I am training from bout a month and half but my arms are still skinny and almost no progress(expcept for the reps from 4 now i can do up to 8) so just wondering what's wrong with my workout.

  • Well if I'm doing just a straight pull-up/ chin-up work-out I'll normally spend about 20-25 minutes on the bar. If you're getting to the point of muscle failure (where you simply can't do another pull-up) then you've got a good work-out going for you. Once you reach that point, then grab some dumbbells and do curls until you reach muscle failure. Rest, then go back at it. Don't get discouraged. You won't have a whole lot of visible changes for awhile. Just keep working hard.

  • hey i forgot to ask what about the sets and reps?

  • The sets can vary. I normally don't count sets because I'm normally going for a time duration. However with reps it depends on the difficulty of the exercise. For instance a normal pull-up I'll try and keep it around 20 reps. Something more difficult like wide arm I'll bring the reps down to 10 or 15.

  • nice intro ;D.Did you get that biceps only by pull ups and chin ups and how long you train?

  • Ya, it's def. my main form of workout for my biceps. I find it works a lot better than curls. If I do curls for my workout, a lot of times I'll do them after I'm burnt out from pull-ups and chin-ups. Normally I'll work on the bar for about 20-25 mins. doing sets of push-ups or sit-ups in between.
