Irwindale Speedway is the venue for a fuel economy test conducted by truck cap and tonneau manufacturer Snugtop. The test confirm savings up to 10% in gas mileage through aerodynamic efficiency by covering the open bed of a pickup truck.

@mrfnk Depends on the vehicle. One is a V8 and the other a V6. They get different mileage. If you got 20 MPG with the cover off and 22 with it on, that's a 10% increase in mileage, or a 10% savings

10% of what? Give us the actual numbers. How many gallons did it use with the covers on? and how many gallons it used with the covers off? That's what the gut at the beginning said you were going to test.
