@StJimmy19 I try to even though most don't. And to revise my comment, I thought he was hitting his forehand much better at the Australian Open, which could propel him to have the best year of his career.

@ctoth666 I appreciate the way you back up your statement with logic and reasons. Too rare on youtube these days.

@brandonisskilled First off, have you ever heard of punctuation? It's your friend, man. It makes you sound more educated. Secondly, You didn't even read my comment. You ask why he can't bed rafa, fed, or djoko. I was saying that he's underrated BECAUSE the players holding him back are all players that are among the greatest of all time. He is dealing with the hardest top 3 in history.

Disclaimer: my forehand is not up to par with Murray, not at all, so I am not insinuating that it is. That formality out of the way, I do not like this technique, and honestly believe I do certain things better but the net result is worse. Anyway, he brings his weight too much around and back again as opposed to forward into the court. Also loads too much on his right leg and pops up out of the hole. He hits his forehand very well on the run, but otherwise not so much.

@brandonisskilled He's definitely underrated. If Murray was around in any other era he could've won slams already. Murray has gotten to the semifinals of majors 5 times and the finals 3 times, and each time he's lost to Nadal, Federer, or Djokovic, all of whom could be argued to be among the greatest players of all time.

Bad forehand. Consistently breaks down on him and he's unable to punish the ball with it like his peers. It really looks like he's "dragging" his arm through the shot rather than having his arm truly behind the ball and hitting through it - this is why he's always hitting relatively (i say this b/c i'd still die to have his forehand at my level) pushy balls on that side. He is also opening his shoulders and upper body too soon rather than letting his arm swing freely.

FYB, question for you about Murray's forehand technique. I'll try my best to make it make sense. After Roddick and Gasquet, he has one of the most unique (albeit simplistic) forehands I've seen among the pros. It appears as though, after tracking the ball and turning his shoulders, he takes the racquet straight back. Resultantly, his wrist doesn't seem cocked until the swing forward. Is this the case or is his take-back more a conscious loop to get to the racquet-back position?

i was at this match!!!

@brandonisskilled He's underrated. He's going out there with half a game - no forehand ,no 2nd serve and no self-belief, and he's still number 4. If he ever gets a decent coach ......
his forehand is simple and powerful.. i like him very much

it depends on how you're swinging into the ball. The grip doesn't make a windshield wiper shape automatically. You could totally hit flat if you wanted to with a semi-western.
