Here in New Zealand I hear these birds almost every morning, especially when I was little getting up very early for school. So now I associate the sound with homeliness and nostalgia. Beautiful.
Also, I wonder why there is no 480p option?

I love magpies and think they get a bad press for beinf thieves, aggresive and interlopers (non-natives!!) We have nesters down by a creek with a bridge on our farm in Reporoa, NZ and the protective parents swoop for a few weeks to warn us off. Fortunately they mostly just swoop and dive and only very occasionally do they hit us....love their song,to me it is the sound of the countryside and the most evocative thing about pastoral farming here.

@BJAfan1998 yes, they have quite a wide repertoire. This is a small sample of their range.

The sound that all homesick Aussies most miss when they're overseas...

I think he's trying to tell the other birds to shut up. xD

@n1g3ld34c0n that's exactly what I thought when I first played this back. He seems to pause, look around at the lorikeets and let out a screech that says "shut up, I'm trying to sing!"
