  • Thanks. good luck wih the Waldzither.

  • Great sound! How is this tuned? DADG?

  • Nah, EADG - I started playing mandolin first.

  • Hi yoyotimmy

Which is the easiest to play a bouzouki or mandolin and what is the difference?

  • @MrJimmorrison1984 I await the English reclaiming the Uilleann pipes

  • @seonidh Thanks you just proved my point they are variatiions of a similar instrument form different cultures

  • uillean pipes and bag pipes are very different instruments

@MrJimmorrison1984 really....google the pastoral pipes for a pipe that is british and very like the Union pipes

  • @seonidh difference is the bouzouki or any string instrument for that matter can be adapted to suit the style of playing whereas uillean pipes can not. also uillean pipes and bag pipes are very different instruments so cll it a greek bag pipe all ya like you just piss of the scots then lol.......

  • @yoyotimmy still 50 years is hardly a tradition its a fad. if the Greeks palyed the unoin/uilleann pipes and called it a greek bagpipe there would be an uproar

  • @seonidh Sorry, if i insulted anyone. I know the instrument's from Greece. The Irish have been playing them traditionally (I think) since 1960, and 50-year old tradition is till a tradition. They've been playing fiddle much longer, but how many Italians (where theoretically the first proper violin is from) get pissed off if you refer to an Irish fiddle?

And technically, this one is made in Romania.

For a similar debate, check out the Laos-Thailand debate over the Khaen.

  • @seonidh No one said the Bouzouki is an irish instrument it is simply the tunung of the instrument used for Irish Traditional music (GDAE) as compared to the tuning of the Bouzouki mainly used for Greek Music (GDAD) so get off your high horse. Nobody trying to claim the instrument as Irish. Merely Stating that it is the Irish Tuning just as with IRISH Tenor Banjo tuning also (GDAE) as opposed to Tenor Banjo (CGDA) simply done to make the playability of the instrument easier to suit the style.
